Cider Master Scott Topel Wins at Great Lakes International Cider & Perry Competition
Wyndridge Farm Brewing announced today that Cider Master Scott Topel has won four medals including Gold at this year’s Great Lakes International Cider & Perry Competition, which was held in Grand Rapids, MI on April 20-21.
Topel won a Bronze Medal in the Modern Cider/Sweet category for his Northern Spy Guy. Silver Medals in Modern Cider/Sweet for our Original Crafty Cider and in the Fruit Cider category for a Crafty Imperial Cranberry Cider that was made exclusively for the Pittsburgh market. Finally, he took a Gold Medal in the Sour Cider category for his Kettle Wild Wyndridge Sour, a small batch project that was produced using some first time techniques.
This recognition from the cider community and fellow cider makers show that Wyndridge Farm ciders deserve their place among the other fine quality ciders here in the states. It’s important for a producer like Wyndridge who seeks to produce large volumes to reach their capacity that Topel refuses to sacrifice quality along the way and these ciders demonstrate that. “This is a good barometer to see where your products stand with your peers in the industry and this year it was a fine honor to win these medals,” said Topel.
